Looking to build a gaming pc. I done amd but now fancy a change. I’m lookinh at the intel 7700k but is there something I could get with a similar performance like a cheaper i5 I only plan to have a gtx 1070 but kinda want it future proof. 16gb dominator ram and a 750 watt psu. Will this be sufficient? Also I don’t get the motherboards, sky lake coffe lake?? What’s the difference? Can you put a sky lake in a coffe lake with the same socket? My budget is £1000 I don’t mind going a little over. Graphics card I already have. I’m usong www.scan.co.uk for my parts as I trust them and do business with them. I want the nzxt manta case white so a mini itx motherboard is a must and I’ve chosen the Asus rog. Along with nzxt x62 aio cooler. Any suggestions. I’m new to Intel and don’t want an over powered cpu paired with a gtx 1070. I currently have a fx9590, 32gb kingston hyper x beast ram and 2 gtx 970s. The system is good it plays everything on ultra, some game have to turn down the graphics but only slightly so I’m happy with that. I like to achieve 60 FPS if I can, happy to go low as 50. I do t do 4K and probably never will 1080p at the moment I’m happy with Also how hot do intels get. I only have Intel laptop and they all get hot, around the 70/80s. My fx runs 32c idle 46c after 8 hours gameplay on 1.35 volts core. (Don’t know why they stock it a 1.5? Way to hot) anyway. Anyone done the change from amd to Intel and noticed a performance difference. My current machine I would say runs warm but only because of the gpus my only concern is it runs at about 550-700 watts which compared to my very old amd atlon which runs at 300, (rarely) just seems a little to high for long gaming. It’s great for heating a room but not great on the energy bills. Anyway feedback would be great. Temps, power usage, performance etc. I rushed into the amd build desperate for a new computer and didnt really look into what I was buying, I saw 8 core 4.7 with a reduced price. It’s srable...kinda I don’t know, every time I turn it on something seems to play up. Graphics running at 50% sometimes crashes but very rarely, doesn’t like restarting unless I turn off load of Mb features. Just want something I could build leave at stock maybe will a little tweak here and there. Thanks peeps

i5 8600k + z370 motherboard

a huge upgrade from that crappy 9590

if you want sli gtx 970 then get a decent 850w power supply

a single gtx 1070 is utterly inadequate for 4k

so I would strongly suggest a 1440p monitor instead
