The parts depend on what the system will be used for. Basic online browsing can be done on a simple, low cost system.
Games require a much higher level of performance so the components must be correspondingly suitable and thus cost more - goes out of budget very quickly.
What game(s) do you wish to play? How else will the computer be used: work, school, streaming....?
Most games and software applications provide a listing of the necessary hardware components. Usually categorized in some manner such as minimum, recommended, or best.
Look at the games you wish to play. Find the hardware specs. Make a list and then use an online resource such as pcpartpicker:

Use the build guide. Select components from one of the recommended builds in the Tom's link above.
Put together a few builds. Just to learn the process and get a sense of the costs involved.
Decide what you want and then post your "build" accordingly. Ask for comments and suggestions.

Any given motherboard will have some listing of the supported components: CPU, RAM are especially important.
There are likely to be several workable combinations you can use for a gaming PC.
Use the system in the pcpartpicker link as a guide. Or the Tom's Hardware build that is within your budget.
Pretend that build is your gaming system. Then look at one of the games you desire to play.
For example GTA v. The build includes 16GB (Kit 2x8GB) of memory. How much memory is recommended for GTA v?
Check off whether the build meets the gaming requirements game by game. If all are met then that is the system put together.
If not, vary the build to improve where the build is weak and go through the process again.
Only you can make the final decisions between price, performance, quality.

Those builds have: 1) been created by knowledgeable and experienced experts, and 2) vetted by other experts.
There will be trade-offs: the most common being performance and budget. I.e., You may need to put together or buy a slightly less powerful system to remain in budget.
And remember that two systems with identical hardware can perform differently. There are other dependencies involved: configuration, apps, etc. running in the background.
Look at and study the builds. Compare them to each other and to the games you wish to play.
Identify a build that fulfills the requirements of the games you wish to play and that is within or close to your budget.
