Gaming PC Crashing During Gameplay

Hi,
So my gaming pc is acting up. Usually after an hour of gameplay, my screen will go blank, then my pc crashes and begins to restart. As it’s restarting, after its finished showing me the Asus logo, my screen then goes black and that’s it. The only way for me to continue to the sign in page, is by holding down the power button to shut it down and booting it back up again. Anyone know how to fix this?

Here are my pc specs:
i5-6600k 3.50GHz
EVGA GTX 1070 SC Gaming ACX 3.0
Asus Z170-A ATX DDR4 Motherboard
Samsung 960 EVO Series 250GB
Cooler Master Hyper 612 Ver 2.0
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB
EVGA SuperNOVA 750G2 80+ Gold 750W
WD Black 2TB

As a heads up, I’ve looked at my cpu temp, before it crashed, and it was around 35-40 degrees C, which I think is fine. GPU, was around 50-55 degrees C if you were wondering what my gpu temp was. If it means anything, this issue began as soon as I upgraded my gpu. Originally it was a geforce gtx 960, and this issue never happened before until now, after I installed the 1070. If you’re wondering I have made sure that the gpu is up to date.

So I tried reseting the CMOS like you said, all I did was take out the battery on the motherboard, and this problem still persists.

I haven’t yet tried switching the psu, it’ll be a about a week until I try that, since me previous psu, which I believe was a corsair 500w psu, is back at home. I’m currently away, but I’ll keep you updated once I change it.

Update, so I wanted to test my previous gpu, which was a geforce gtx 960. As I mentioned before, I never had this crashing issue before I’ve upgraded my gpu to the geforce gtx 1070 sc. So I let it run for a bit and not once has my pc crashed on me. So is this psu issue or a gpu issue? Am I forgetting something for my 1070?

If it means anything when the 1070 is in my pc, and it’s booting up, when the asus logo appears, also below that it says overckocking 34%. Does this mean anything?

I’m not the best when it comes to pc’s so if this issue is due to some simple little thing that everyone should do before running your pc, well I’m sorry.

I guess it means your bios is Overclocking your CPU.
When you installed the 1070, did you just plug it in and let windows update the drivers?
There are many threads on this but
download DDU from guru3d.com
uninstall the drivers like it tells you to do
then reinstall the brand new ones... btw download the new ones first and do NOT install over the top of old drivers

Overall yeah, I just plugged in the 1070 and let windows update it, along with installing the CD that came with the 1070. So I'm assuming that the drivers I'm uninstalling are from my previous gpu the 960, correct? I just want to make sure that I'm doing the correct thing.

Update, so I downloaded DDU from guru3d.com and I clicked on the tab that said "Clean and shutdown", which it mentioned was for installing a new graphics card. After that I inserted the CD that came with the 1070, and installed the stuff from that, but the crashing still continues during gameplay. Was there something that I missed?

Update: So it looks like we're making progress. I did the same thing as last time, but instead, I downloaded the drivers for my 1070 on Nvidia. After testing out the gpu and pc by playing some games, it still crashes. But it's a bit different, rather than rebooting and just going to a black screen, like it used to, now it reboots and continues onto the log in screen.

I did notice that in the Nvidia Geforce Experience that was downloaded onto my pc when I installed the drivers, on the Drivers tab, there is a driver update that was released in 4/6/2017, it's Version: 381.65. I tried to download it, but I keep getting an error saying "Unable to connect to NVIDIA, try again later". It's possible that this update could fix my crashing issue, but like I mentioned before, I keep on getting that error, what should I do about this?

Update: So relating to that connecting issue to Nvidia in trying to install the update for the driver, which I mentioned in my last post, I believe I fixed it by going onto geforce's website and downloading the drivers from there. I'm pretty sure I was able to update my 1070 to the latest drivers. I also did what you mentioned turning off all the programs that were running in the background that I wasn't using.

After doing these things, I now have a different problem. So my computer no longer crashes, which is good, but now it just goes to a blank screen during the middle of gameplay. When this occurs, the audio makes a buzzing sound and my screen goes blank. I can still hear the game going on through my speakers, but all I see is a white blank screen. I believe this is a gpu issue, what should I do about this?

Yeah, I was thinking that it may be possible that I just got a faulty gpu. If so I can just send it back and get a new one. We’ll see if maybe customer support may help, I’ll give Direct X another go. If none of that works, I’ll just return it.

Thanks for your help.
