Gaming PC for $800, can it be done?

Solution

the FX series literally only beats the Intel processors in the specific category of multithreaded rendering programs.

DayZ is exceptionally CPU heavy, and a significant FPS gain will be achieved with an Intel processor over an AMD FX processor. Whilst in most game the difference would be minimal, this is one of those games where there is a decent gap in framerate between the two.

Try -

Do you know what Day-Z would run at on this and would this be good for some mild Photoshop editing and video editing.

Pretty much this build except on NCIX the R9 280 just went on sale for $100 off, the GPU then becomes $185 and is faster as well. http://www.ncix.com/detail/club-3d-radeon-r9-280-65-94998-1301.htm

This build also comes with AMD's Gold reward package, including a selection of three games from the bundle. http://sites.amd.com/us/promo/never-settle/Pages/never-settle.aspx
