My gaming PC that I built around 3.5 years ago has started to freeze and become unresponsive regularly whilst i'm playing games. I think it might the the old CPU that just can't cope anymore but i'm not sure. I've tried things like running a memory check, reseting the virtual memory, running a disk check and running a system file check; none of these have helped.

My system is:
GPU: nvidia GeForce GTX 760
CPU: AMD FX(tm)-6300 Six-Core processor
Motherboard: MSI-970A-G46 (MS-7693)
8GB RAM Corsair vengeance
Power supply: Corsair CX500M
Hard drive: Western Digital 1TB WD10EZEX 2014
Network card: Realtek PCle GBE family controller

Help is greatly appreciated, the freezing is incredibly annoying.

Solution
60 C is also good temp for GPU. So it's not overheating.
Can you test GPU in another machine? Or test different PSU in yours? That would help exclude some options.

It has done it before randomly, just not often at all. Its very common when I game. Specifically when I do things like run Spotify and play rocket league at the same time.

I've just checked it now whilst running a game and the CPU is sitting at 49C, that an acceptable temp?

Currently sitting at 48C as well, but wouldn't say Factorio is a particularly intensive game. It's reached around 60C with more intensive games.
