Gaming pc motherboard cheap?

Hi I have recently had my pc say check signal I have taken it to the sop and they hav said the motherboard is dead?does it matter what motherboard I get or does it have too be a specific model for my pc or can I just buy a gaming motherboard?cheap?please?

I'm sorry, but what's a 'sop'? I'm assuming by 'dead' it means the motherboard is already broken.

The motherboard you choose should be compatible with the processor's socket you have/want. Meaning it would be wiser to choose a processor first.
