I am trying to build my first gaming PC. I want to get an ssd for my OS and games like BF3 and Skyrim. I am gonna get a 1tb hdd for the other random stuff like music and pictures. I was wondering, how do I choose what files are on what? If I were to download Skyrim can I choose for it to be on the SSD? Or will it fill the ssd and start going on the hdd?

You just choose where you want to download the file or you can move stuff back and forth like multiple hdds

When dealing with normal files like music and pictures, you choose which drive to put it on when you download or copy the files. With programs, you choose where it goes when you install it. You don't need to put all your programs on the SSD -- just install the programs that require a lot of bandwidth on the SSD and the rest on the hard drive. As rolli59 mentioned, Steam games are installed where the Steam folder is, so make sure you configure that.
