Hello guys .. i really need your help .
I built my mid-range gaming pc around 7 years back and now i have to change some parts ( GPU, Processor, RAM , Motherboard ).

I want to find a combination of parts that are both somewhat cheap , compatible, and able to play new games not necessarily on ultra-high settings but preferable .My budget is around $500.

I will be keeping the case, power supply ( 550 W ) and the HDD 1TB seagate barracuda although an SSD would be nice 😛

Thanks for the help !

Uhh, well what powersupply model is it? PSUs are the blood of the system, if it's a piece of junk PSU that has managed to last 7 years it's very likley you'll need to replace it.

It's even possible a high quality PSU may need to be replaced.

You have to tell us what the model of the case is as well, as there could very will be some space limitations.

And you should probably just tell us what old hardware you had as well, so we know what you're actually improving too.

$500 is only gonna really get you a "entry" system. though, but if you don't need a case psu or HDD, you get a kinda mid level system.

Well im pretty sure my psu wasnt one of the great ones at the time , so i probably need to change it . I forgot the name .

I used to have a quad core q950 processor 3.0 , a 5 series ati gpu , 4gb ram 1600 mhz , i forgot the model of the motherboard but it was by gigabyte . I used to have a small case but recently i got one of those towers by gigabyte and its kind of huge lol . I think it would fit my needs. Thats pretty much it !

And thanks for your reply :)

Do you need an OS? what about a CD/DVD drive?

here's an initial suggestion:

I have a windows 7 disc and an optical drive so it's not a problem . I like what you suggested but is there a chance i could choose an i5 at least ? Or is that cpu enough ? Im interested in playing fps games like bf 1 and something that would cover me for the next 3/4 years. Would those be enough ? Thanks :)

A little over 500 but yeah.

GPU is good for 1-2 years, okay for 3-4 years, and meh for 5-6, so you'd be wanting to upgrade the GPU probably at the 3-4 year mark, which would be a roughly $300 GPU to keep up and stay ahead, as the CPU will degrade far slower. (not really gonna benefit much from a change in the next 5-6 years.)
