Right so I currently have a 5yr old 48" LG TV that I use for the front room with my pc hooked up.

I am moving house soon and am budgeting for a new TV. I just dont know if to go for a high end hd unit with gaming features, low input lag etc. Being the Sony kdl-50w829b which is £750. Or I have seen an LG unit 42ub820v which is 4k ready for £600.

My 280x tri-vapor can run at 4k reasonably so this is an option.

Basically am I better getting a high end gaming aimed TV or a mid range 4k aimed TV? I will not be upgrading this unit for another 5yrs min. So that's something to consider.

Solution
Well a 280x won't do 4k gaming all that great. So you may find yourself also double-up on 280x to really use your 4k tv.

Considering that there is so little 4k content and to game on 4k is also very expensive, I'd go for the 1080p.

I have the same setup.

Media center PC to my TV. Great for movies, tv, and gaming.

Hope that helps.

4k is still a little premature to be mainstream yet. I would not advise to get them until they get themselves finalized and there is a good amount of content availible to them.

I would go for a medium to high end 1080p tv with 240hz refresh. Plasma is better if you are in a room that you can keep fairly dark. If you have a moderate amount of light in the room then you will need to with LED TV.
