Hi,

I'm just about to buy my new build. I have an intel i5 2500k that I bought for cheap when there was a deal.

Here is my current build: https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/MySavedWishDetail.aspx?ID=14444451

I'm new to all this and if you could try to beat this build, that would be nice. I originally had a 6950 2gb in there but I was told that the 2gb of Vram would be useless and a 560 would be better and cheaper. If you could keep it under 900, that would be nice.

Also, the grand total is 870 with -20 coupon and shipping.

Thank you.

great build
id get ram thats a little faster, ram is so cheap right now that id just go for 8gb. yes, 4gb is fine for now, but this will get you 8gb of the good stuff (1600mhz CL8) for $60:

is the ud4 worth $190? i dunno. the z68xp ud3p is extremely similar but is a newer revision (they are phasing out the z68x ud4, i believe) and actually has support for the z68 quick sync feature (which you probably dont need):

there are many less expensive mobos that are plenty for most users, so if you are looking to save some money, this is where id do it.

Yeah, but I don't know about the video card. some say that the 6950 2gb is better but it would break my budget. I could always get a Rosewill Challeneger and save 15 bucks and I could get a 6950 2gb.

Suggestions?

its a tough call between the two cards. An hd6950 2gb is very much on par with a gtx 560 ti overclocked at 900mhz (like the one youve chosen). On the one hand you could argue that the 2gb of vram will become useful in the near future, but that is speculation. Many people prefer Nvidia driver support, especially in SLI vs AMD's CrossfireX.

this mobo, for example:

is outstanding, and $10 less. i wouldnt consider it a downgrade. at all.

id get the case you want. if you need to hit your budget, you dont need the 8gb of ram:
