gaming peripherals do they really help ?

not sure if this is the right place to post but what tthe heck so as the title says really are gaming keyboards a good upgrade as such i already have a mouse because i wanted the buttons on the side???

Depends. I'm not more than an occasional gamer. But I'd love a mechanical keyboard - to type better. If you're a gamer you want a fast poll mechanical keyboard with backlighting for night and macros for different games. A peripheral is also the monitor. I'm used to mine - 24 inch 60 Hz 1080p. My son would love a 27 in 1440P IPS 120hZ. But not when I told him how much it'd cost. And he loves his fast mouse. Then there's speakers. He's got LOUD LOUD LOUD Logitech Z630. I like my Microlabs.

So Peripgerals let you get the most out of your pc at the human interface end. Don't under-estimate their effect on the user.

some games like wow pvp use a alot of buttons and benefit from macro buttons and extra mouse buttons. but if you dont want it you dont need it.

aside from more buttons, gaming monitor 120hz and above works great for competitive edge and better experience. a good mousepad is also a sure thing and will improve everything from windows to gaming.

That's a pretty subjective question. If you're looking for opinions, I'll give you mine for what it's worth...

I definitely like gaming mice. I recently upgraded from a cheap one to a Logitech G500 and wish I'd done it years ago. It feels much nicer, slides much more consistently and the adjustable dpi is handy.

I got a keyboard a couple of years ago. Again, I subjectively like the feel of it much more, though unlike the mouse I can't say it's helped my gaming at all. I imagine if you're an MMO player or are into programming macros, the additional keys offered on some keyboards could make a massive difference. That's not me. I do a looooot of typing however, and the mechanical keys are great (again - subjective!). While at first I wondered whether I'd wasted some cash on the keyboard, I've already got several years out of it and expect it to last many hundreds of hours worth of typing yet, so for me it's a good investment.

Personally I think it's a little strange when people sink big $$s into a gaming rig and then skimp out on the components they actually interact with (keyboard, mouse, screens). But others would see it differently. I suppose my only suggestion would be to try one out, use a friend's or go to a shop, and see if you like it. Decide whether it's worth it for you.

thanks for all the replys people and i would say im jus a normal gamer nothing special at all and gaming on a 32 inch 60hz 1080i moniter with a keyboard that came with a prebuilt system like i say i got a cheap mouse 10 quid tnh and thats already a 100 times better than the one that came with the prebuilt system so on the keyboard side of things i cant help but feel im at a major disadvantage. also headphones i jus played bf4 with some ear buds instead of through speakers and that was better to anyone got any cheapish suggestions for me lol

i used to think gaming mice wouldn't make much difference until i borrowed my son's razer something - huge improvement in K/D ratio (browser-based multiplayer FPS). then i plugged my cheap mouse back in and i was rubbish again.

i wouldn't recommend cheap corsair headsets. the hinge pins fall out way too easily.
