I need to recommend a computer to a family of three consisting of father, mother, and child age 13. The father uses the computer to search Internet, e-mail, Quicken to keep track of family finances, MS Excel for keep tract of investments, MS Access for database, and playing games. The mother uses the computer to search Internet, e-mail, Adobe Photoshop Elements to edit photos, Pentacle Studio 11 to edit video, burning CD/DVDs, and playing games. The child uses the computer for educational purposes, playing games, e-mailing friends, and searching the Internet. All of this has to be under $2,000 exactly. Its going to be one computer that can do all that stuff for the family, not multiple computers, please.

At $2000 get the Mom and Dad each their own Win7 laptops (Best buy, $400 each), get the kid a really good gaming system for $1000 from cyberpower including monitor and buy an external USB harddrive so that whoever does the taxes, finances, on their laptop etc can BACK UP their data easily.

This is good info but it has to be only one computer for the family to use not multiple computers (thou if it was for my family yes that way would be a fine way to go about it), thou one desktop that would be good for them, please list the parts and why you picked them with the prices adding up to $2,500 the new total minus the software and tax please and thank you for the help with this.

Hi, not way I recommend a family spend $2500 on a computer.

For $1K they can get a nice factory gaming computer plus a monitor. http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/ It will handle all the other uses.
