Gaming RAM, really?

Okay, what is so special about 'Gaming RAM' that justifies its added expense, you can get high quality high speed low CL RAM and i thought that was the extent of the discussion but now we have a separate specification 'gaming'.
Is it like a 'gaming' monitor, lol..

I was just trying to justify the extra expense over the (standard low-end non-gaming) RAM we are used to buying

Simply look for a good combo of freq and CL i.e. true performance sets can be looked for in the following combos

1.5 1600/7-8 1866/8 1.6-1.65 2133/9 2400/10 2666/11

any combo of freq/CL above or better are considered performance DRAM
