Hi there,
I think the best way to start off this thread is to list my system specs:
AMD 760K Black Edition
Nvidia GeForce 650ti
8GB(2X4) 1600mhz RAM
1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD
Cirsair CX430M

Ok, so as I have noticed a drop in rendering speeds lately, I have been looking in to what components I should upgrade that would be the most beneficial. Here are some q's that I have:
Would an upgrade to the GPU result in a bottleneck?
I only have 2 ram slots atm so should I replace my 2X4 ram with 2X8 ram or buy a different socket mitherboard with 4 slots and get 4X4 ram and maybe an I3 or amd 6 core?
Thank you so much for your help,
Tom

Exporting an edited video will only involve much rendering if there is a lot of edits/filters applied. What you are probably referring to is encoding, which can be done with or without GPU acceleration depending on settings and software selection. Upgrading one, or the other, or both may help. Best way to answer that question is to get an export underway and watch CPU and GPU utilization to see which is pegged at 100%. More than likely you have a CPU bottleneck. A $300 hardware budget to run a $600 software suite sounds fishy to me so that's all the help I can offer on this subject.

Hi there,
The budget for the upgrade only is max £200/$300.
I am happy to upgrade the GPU if you think it is necessary and won't get bottlenecked by the CPU because i dont think it is an excellent cpu tbh,
Cheers,

Not enough information given to help:

What are you rendering? What software? What conditions?

There's no way to know based on the information given whether your performance problem originates with the CPU or GPU. "Rendering" can be performed on CPUs, GPUs, or both, depending on the software.
