Gaming rig - advice for new upgrades

I am considering upgrading my custom-build desktop, which I use primary to game. What would you recommend? The budget is about 250-300€ and I have the following specs:

I would go a different route. I think youshould look into expanding your RAM. 4GB isn't much and you may be getting bottle necked there.

Then I would get a tier higher video card. Either an RX480 or a GTX 1060 whichever you like. Your processor already has very good single core performance and while more games are supporting quad core processors the majority still don't. So your performance return on upgrading your processor would be a lot less than expanded RAM and a better video card.

This is correct. 16GB is a amount that will cover almost all gaming and pretty much everything else. If you are going to upgrade that much keep in mind the speed of your memory. Get the best frequency and the best timings to get the most out of your RAM.

Interesting What about Corsair DDR3 1600MHz 16GB? I got 2 empty DIMM. So a total of 20GB. Would it be sufficient? And a ASUS GeForce GTX1060-O3G DUAL - 3GB?

However, based on current trends and pricing, I'd recommend the RAM and CPU sooner than later as both are becoming more uncommon (DDR3/1150 socket) and therefore, more costly.

Well an i5 is a mid level processor and an i7 is a high end processor. It really just depends on the processor in the end. Right now I wouldn't get anything more than a quad core unless you are going to be making videos or doing graphics work because that money could be spent elsewhere and get you more frames per second. The best option would be to get a good quad core, upgrade your ram, and upgrade your video card but that's not going to really work with your budget.
This problem is one of the big downsides to the constant socket changes intel did for years. The flip side of that is while AMD has had the same socket for years it has fallen behind in advanced options like NVME drives but the new Ryzan stuff is going to update the line. Not to mention AMD has been getting killed in the top tier market for a while now but it looks like they may be competitive again soon.

Good points. Il probably buy the RAM first and the CPU and GPU at a later stage(need more money) 😉
