Hello.

Just went to the store and reserved a rig (dont HAVE to buy it).

Case: Corsair Carbide 500r
CPU: Intel i7 3820 10mb cache
GPU: Sapphire hd7950
Disks: SSD samsung 120gb
HDD WD 1TB
MOBO: MSI X79A-GD65 8D (s 2011, X79 ,DDR3)
Cooling system: Corsair Hydro Series H55 (LGA 115x, 1366 Socket AM2, AM3, FM1, FM2)

You guys think this is a 'GOOD' rig?

What do you think about games, will it play all games that are out today at sort of max settings?

Thanks in advance for your answers & help!

This is all messed up.

WAY too much CPU. Change it to an i5.

Use the saved money to get a better GPU. Gaming is 85% GPU and 15% CPU.

The CPU cooler is junk. A cheaper air cooler will cool better and make WAY less noise. The Coolermaster hyper 212 evo is what you want.

What RAM and PSU?

8GB (2x4)
700W psu

the gtx770 is much better than the sapphire 7950?

You're definitely flipped on the video card - CPU/mobo cost benefit for a gaming rig.

You should also wait a few weeks for the AMD Volcanic Islands cards to be released. That should rattle the current market pricing structure quite radically in October.

edit: Anand's bench is a joke ... at your price points you should be looking at individual card reviews.

Ok.. will give it some thought.

The dude at the store also told me that CPU wise, LGA2011 socket is A LOT better than 1150.. is this true?

 -- only if he is selling it to you at quite a discount

S'rly, if gaming is your goal, with your budget, you should 'free your mind' of clutter and think beyond the edge.

In a month or so, you could be spending $200-$250 on your CPU/Mobo and jamming with an nVidia Titan or AMD Radeon Hawaii XT.

That'll game 😀

Well the budget here is 1500 euros, which is just under 2k usd (1,989usd).

But prices here (Greece) are much different that in the US unfortunately...🙁

Anyone here knowledgeable about prices in europe and can recommend a build?

The store has a website where you click select to build, i've done this so far based on your suggestions:

Case: Carbide 500r Midi Tower
MOBO: MSI - Z87-G45 Gaming
Ram: DDR3 8GB (2x4) 1600MHz Vengeance C8
CPU: Core i5 4670k(1150/3.4GHz/6MB)
GPU: VGA PCI GTX 770 Jetstream 4GB
PSU: Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 750W
Disks: Samsung 840 series 120GB SSD SATA / WD10EZRX 1TB HDD
Optical Drive Samsung DVD-RW Sata black
System: W7 pro 64bit

And the fan: Civetta 92mm
(unfo they dont have coolermaster in the shop...)
And this comes out to 1555 euros
