Gaming rig under $500?

I'm new to the whole tech side of PCs - especially gaming set ups, and I was wondering if someone could help me pick out a laptop/desktop or the parts for a build for a rig that would be able to run Skyrim, Oblivion, e.t.c on Ultra at 60fps? I don't really play any games on PC besides those listed above besides the occasional Sims marathon and I'm kind of tired of playing Skyrim on low-medium detail with a crapton of lag. I currently own an ASUS K55V, and it's about 2 years old. It can handle about 15-20 mods plus Skyrim on low/medium detail, but by "handle" I mean I don't get CTD, it's still difficult to play. I'm leaning towards a computer with an HDMI setup, considering I already have a screen. If someone could give me some insight, I'd be grateful.

Good luck. It'll cost $300 of the $500 to even get a GPU that'll max the games out.
