I know that multiple CPU's are not worth the cost when building a gaming machine but what about for a gaming server? I am planning on building a gaming server to use mostly on a LAN and am wondering if a multi CPU motherboard would be worth it. I don't think there would ever be more than 10-15 people on at a time. We would be running Space Engineers for the most part. Also, I am only really familiar with intel core i CPU's so would there be a better type of CPU for t his application?

Solution
For 10-15 people in most games you really don't need that much CPU power, you could probably get away with a dual core. I've had 40 people on a CSGO server with a Q6600 with no problems, not sure if Space engineers requires a ton of power but i'd imaging 15 people is pretty easily manageable.
