Hi all,

I am looking to build a gaming rig for around $1200. So far, I know that I want to go with an i5 3570k, an MSI gtx 760, and a 256gig SSD. Everything else I would like to get some suggestions/opinions on. I have a 1TB 7200rpm Western Digital drive in my current rig I'll be using for media, so really only shopping for a SSD. Pretty much most of my choices are based on popularity & good reviews.

Things in particular I'd like suggestions on:
- A good power supply
- Opinions on a good 256gig SSD in the sub $225 range, the Samsung 840 Pro series had the best reviews from what I saw
- What I need in order to safely OC the i5 3570k to the 4-4.2 range

Why not get an i5 4670k and a z87 motherboard?

Simply put, I figured the 4670k is more than I needed. Will certainly think harder about going with haswell.

Hello,

I would honestly recommend getting Ivy over Haswell if you are planning to overclock as they seem to have a higher headroom for that.

Also, if you aren't deadset on nVidia, the 7950 is a very attractive option for cheaper than you can get a 760 for. It outperforms the 760 in most (all?) games.

I personally own that power supply, no complaints; its been excellent. 840 pro is a beast.

One last thing, I would suggest going either 2x4gb or 2x8gb for your RAM to take advantage of dual channel.

Depends on the game. BF3, Crysis 3 both have 15+ more FPS with the 760.
