Thanks for your input, trying to put together a new build with the new Intel and Nvidia parts coming out soon.

Primary Use: Gaming, Video Editing Novice (lightworks / Adobe Premier Pro)

Games: Far Cry, Fallout 4, Skyrim, TC Division, Doom, Minecraft :)
Going to get VR next year.

Even though I have some items already heading my way, I'm still open for recommendations if I need to return anything.

I would like it to be as quiet as reasonably possible, as it's home is in the bedroom and really need help in picking out a case and cooling.

O/C: Yes, a bit, stability more important though and don't want to increase power consumption too much. Plan on running ram at 2800.

Processor: i7 6900K $750 - 1K? Hoping it is available for purchase in June-July, let me know if this is not realistic.

GPU: GTX 1080 (preferably 3rd party, but want to purchase as soon as 6900K becomes available, so choices may be limited) $600+, will go SLI down the line so case / PSU / etc needs to support this.

MOBO: MSI X99A Pro Gaming Carbon $329

Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU $800 (From Costco for easier return if QC issue, delivers 05/25)

Boot Drive: Samsung 950 Pro 512GB SSD $317 (Newegg - Delivers 05/25)

PSU: EVGA SuperNova 850 Watt Titanium $220 (Amazon - Delivers 05/24)

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 32GB $159 (Newegg - Delivers 05/25)

Storage HDD: Basic Seagate 2TB on hand

OS: Windows 10 $30-120

Case: ??? Sound dampening and cooling / air flow are biggest concerns, followed by ease of setup. Bling not important.

Cooling: Not looking for anything too complicated, but want to keep system as quiet as GTX 1080 will allow.

Misc: Mechanical Gaming Keyboard / Mouse. Speakers, Headset

Questions:

1. Why shouldn't I buy Windows 10 key from Bonanza for $30, and has anyone used this on a new build? With an M.2 drive?

2. Is 850W PSU sufficient for a bit of OC or SLI? Both?

3. Concerned with booting from M.2 drive from everything I've read... is this still an issue, or will it be fine with any x99 board these days?

4. Will eventually move to 3d video recording, any software / hardware recommendations?

Disclamer:
Not looking for CPU recommendations outside of Broadwell-E. No, I don't want a 88 core PC, yes, you are much more knowledge than me am.

850W is overkill. GTX 1080 (get the 3rd party versions, reference design thermal throttles) only consumes 180W. A 600W PSU could handle GTX 1080 SLI. For video recording you'll want the fastest CPU you can get your hands on, and 32GiB RAM is a good amount.

Here are two builds depending on monitor:

If you want higher refresh rate go with Build 1 if you want higher resolution go with Build 2.
Go with $30 key from Bonanza it should work fine.

I dont think you get that the stuff that says "delivers" next to it is already ordered

No it is the delivery date estimated by newegg

"I have some items already heading my way"

I have another rig I can test the parts with, I want to make sure once I receive the processor I'll be good to go, especially the monitor after all the QC issues I've read with ISP monitors right now. Happy to say I barely notice the backlight bleed and no dead pixels. Using it now, need to adjust some settings but looks great.

Anywho, thanks for the recommendations, taking you up on many of them:

CPU Cooler: Looks good, great reviews, so will take you up on your suggestions.
Motherboard: Looks pretty solid and $20 cheaper. No USB 3.1 type C, but probably not a big deal.
Memory: Wouldn't I want a quad channel set?
Storage: Agreed
Case: Was all set to get it, but measured my space just to make sure and I am 1" shy... the max case I can get would have to be 20"D max (could fit 25"H x 10.5"W x 20"D )
PSU: for $20 more (not counting rebate, which I wouldn't get around to) don't see a reason to switch from the one I ordered and I had to use up amazon GCs.
Optical: sure why not, just bought it.
Monitor: Like the ASUS you recommended, now curious how much G-Sync is really worth... $220 difference and I prefer ASUS to ACER. If G-Sync will make the games look / play better, I'm willing to pay a premium for it.Going to start researching this now, but if you have any input on G-Sync / no G-Sync for the games I mentioned, I would appreciate it.
