[SOLVED] Gaming/vr/some video editing-final opinions before buying ?

Just want a quick opinion on this; would like to keep it as close to 2k as possible. Doing a dual boot win10 linux-paying someone to set it up for me. Charging me 200 to build and install, can't really complain.
Prefer linux, using windows only for games that require it.
I do prefer cas latency over actual speed when it comes to memory. Do i need 64gb? or is 16gb fine?

I'm a smoker, and own pets. I actually would consider getting a closed loop cpu and gpu cooler, but not sure if theyd just get clogged, hence making air cooling better.
Shoould i buy additional fans? this one comes with 3x140mm, not sure if they're sleeve bearing or not. Def want it set up for positive airflow seeing as im a smoker.

so far ive switched the cpu to the one you recommended, and switched to a gigabyte mobo that was cheaper with the same features, and chose the assassin 3 cpu cooler (only compatible t1 air cooler); though that might be overkill, see what the budget looks like.

On max load you will need every bit of cooling as that CPU will run hot. It is a 105w TDP chip. A good motherboard will have good VRM cooling and CPU power cycles along with host of other features. Heres a reference guide...

Just googled, b550 seems to be the budget version, one major red flag-no chipset fan. Can i get one aftermarket, or is this pretty much a nogo for the cpu i chose? though like i said its in the s tier (250a),

Super Flower is a premium brand and they manufacture some of the top quality units in the market including some from Seasonic and EVGA. Good choice there. As for that Enermax, I will give it a pass.

For the x570 vs b550, x570 comes with better VRM and PCIe4 natively by chipset design, although some board partners have implemented these on b550 as well. But the most important factor is the number of bus lanes that you get with x570 is more than b550. Here are some differences...

The Gigabyte boards seem to have higher power limits which can be detrimental to thermals and power draw. At that price point I would pick a better board like the MSI Tomahawk.

Thermal Grizzly is the world leader in thermal compounds and the Kryonaut is one of the very best.
For memory, tighter timing will give you better performance, so 3600mhz CL16 is better than CL18. At this budget, I would take that extra performance.
I would still try to save money on Windows with the link I gave you earlier. You can even activate it later as there is no difference in performance or security updates...
