Haven't been able to connect to Reversi and Checkers for
the last couple of days. Is this in any way related to
recent Security Upgrade from MS. XP KB 835732, 828741 &
837001 ?????

It might be.. Sometimes the updates turn on the XP firewall or make
other changes to the browser, etc.

Some updates are listed in the Add/Remove Programs control in the
Control Panel. If there, you might try removing it there. Others can
be removed at the Windows Update site, where the updates are listed for
your system.
