Question Garbage characters in USB

I have a problem a with an encrypted USB stick. Folder names have turned to strange characters and i can't open or copy them to my local drive. Tried to chkdsk and fix it, but it failed too. I tried on several computers, it's the same. Is there any way to recover the files without formatting?

If you really think it was "encrypted", you must "unencrypt" it first.
