Hey everybody.
Interesting upgrade dillemma here that I've never encountered before.

I'm trying to upgrade a Gateway running a 233MHz Pentium. Obviously the SDRAM in the system is PC66. But heres the odd thing. I install a PC100 SDRAM module to expand the memory (no harm in underclocking, right?) but the system never boots into windows. It can do Safe Mode but never fully fledged.
Now, if I pull the PC66 and leave the PC100 in, there are no troubles. What's going on? THe PC100 Is Mushkin Cas2 stuff.
Is this just a memory timing thing or what? For the upgrade should I purchase a stick of PC66 (getting more expensive everyday) or ditch the old PC66 stick and buy a larger single PC100 stick?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks!

It's probably the timing errors caused by mixing of the DIMMs. If there isn't too much RAM on the PC66 DIMM, I would probably just buy PC100/133 DIMM(s) to replace it. Of course, it may be caused by something else also...
