I have an out of warranty gateway notebook model 6020GZ. I need a new motherboard due to power cord strain on the original - everything is connected, apparently, so even though only the socket for the power cord is the problem, the entire board needs replacement. Gateway Live Tech Chat posted the following as the motherboard model: QUANTA BLADE UMA CELERON (MA2). Is the above named motherboard a generic? I tried to have this repaired without replacing the board but it only lasted a couple of days.

Thanks for any help. I'm not too well versed in computer dissection.

I imagine you could find a mobo somewhere but if you really don't know what you're doing you'd likely be better letting a professional that specializes in laptops do it and it may be cheaper to get a new machine. That's one of the advantages of desktops, their cheaper and a easier to work on
