Gateway One wont start

So a few days ago a family member sent me a dead gateway one gz7108. It seems like that something (probably the cpu) under the cpu gpu heatsink in making a buzzing noise. The fan will not spin unless i help it. The mouse light looks like its having a seizure. Please help!

It could be a dying PSU that not longer delivers the power the system needs.

Where can i find a replacement?

And the psu is external and it powers anything i plug into it.

If the power adapter is good then it must be another component.
Is there any beeps or lights when you turn the power on?

The front light powers on and off same with the mouse light as the cpu scratches away and they blink as the cpu scratches. The person i got it from said they got it new in 2008 and never moved the unit until they heard a loud pop and it hasnt started up since.

That sound like a motherboard capacitor.
I don't know if it will be worth for you to try to fix a 10 year old PC.

Well im gonna buy another core 2 duo and replace the caps.

Inspect the motherboard and look for bulging or burst capacitors. You might be able to find the motherboard on eBay.
