Gateway P-6860FX running Windows 10?

Windows 10 doesn't seem to like my Gateway P-6860FX running Windows 7 Home Prem (SP1). It froze up the first time I tried installing it. I restored the Win7 system via clonezilla and got a successful upgrade the 2nd try but it soon failed also.

Is there some sort of issue getting Windows 10 to run on this laptop?

If the online upgrade fails, you can try using the Media Creation Tool to Create a Bootable DVD or USB and Perform an Offline Upgrade.

Thanks for your reply but I am using a DVD made with the media creation tool. I may try burning a Windows 10 DVD on the Gateway in question and see if that makes any difference but the original DVD I made worked fine on two other HP machines that needed upgrading.

I sure hope you can get your Gateway to install, without trying to find updates for components. Gateway sold out to Acer some 5 years ago.i had several friends who worked at Gateway, and they told me about Gateway employees being told to refurbish returned Gateway machines, then Gateway would sell them as new.

I am thinking that Acer may be able to help you. have you gone to Acer web site and checked to see if your pc is listedamong their products?
