My Gateway laptop computer crashed. The screen is black but the battery light does come on. Where can I send the computer to have the problem diagnosed and can I use another brand of computer box to send it in?

Do you get noises from the fan and hard-drive? Try hooking up an external monitor to it see if you get an image.

If the laptop is in warranty, www.gateway.com will have info for you. If it's out of warranty you need to decide if a probable $100+ bill to fix it is worth it. If the laptop is over 3 yrs old, it's usually not worth fixing.
