i have the Gigabyte WF HD 7970Ghz edition, like for 3 months
and just now i noticed that the card is voltage locked.... like WTF ?!@? why
Gigabyte did this....?
the one of the reasons that i bought him is to not buy a new card within 2-3 years
when he will be weak so i can overclock him easily and still enjoy of him
but now i got the awful message.
is there anyway how to open voltage control?

You can still overclock that card just not overvolt which I do not think is a good idea to do ever anyway. The performance you would gain by overvolting the card would be next to nothing anyway and much easier to kill the card completely by overvolting not a good idea. Plus the 7970 is so fast anyway there is no real need to overclock. When or if you get to the point you need more GPU power you can always Crossfire at that point. By then the 7970 might have gone down in price when you need another one.

I had a single Sapphire HD 7970 when I built my FX-8350 rig and if I was not running 3 Asus 27" monitors in Eyefinity I would have not needed to Crossfire but I run most of my games at 5760x1080 so it was needed. For a single monitor it is not really needed with that card. I would not worry about it you have a very good GPU and it will serve you well for a few years to come.
