For all you brainy people out there...
i just got a leadtek winfast geforce 2 pro (32mb)

Q1. what is the difference between the:
a. geforce 2 gts
b. geforce 2 pro
c. geforce 2 ultra
is it just memory speed and corse speed?

Q2. anybody had experience with the unusual fan/heatsink combo on this card?

Q3. how do geforce 2 pro cards handle AGP overclocking?
currently my system bus is at 150 --> AGP 75mhz. but i plan on going higher.
Q4. 200 core 400 mem... any ideas on how far i can go here?

thanx in advance

I can't really answer your questions but I have one for you. Do you have a sticker on your graphics card that says GeForce 2 Pro in the top left hand corner. I was just wondering because I think they use the Leadtek uses the same boards for everything and then just sticks these stickers on. Also I want to make sure that I really have a GeForce 2 Pro card and not MX. Thanks and sorry I couldn't help you.

thanx.

nah. its a pro allright, just got a wierd heatsink/fan combo.
and definately not an MX
400Mhz DDR onboard :)

All three have the same core. The pro and GTS core are clocked the same, but have different memory ratings. The pro has memory closer to Ultra spec. The Ultra has the same core, but like an athlon 1ghz compared to a 1.2ghz, it's faster. I attribute it to clean air on the manufacturing line.

You can crank out the memory on the Pro cards, but only if you add good heatsinks. Try to get heatsinks that aren't individual. One big friggin' 'L' shaped heatsink would be best, but try to get two rectangular sinks that will cover two chips at a time. That leadtek heatsink is too big to put sinks one, and it seems like it's made from steel, so you might CAREFULLY remove it, use a dremel to size it down (or replace it).
The probe only works in win98, so don't worry about it too much if you've got win2k. Try not to put any arctic silver on it, or it will give you false 'high' readings. Slap the modified core sink on, and a couple of mem sinks, and go to town. You can probably expect 220/405, possible 225/420. Be careful if you crank up your io voltage. I know one guy who smoked a MX card at 3.72volts.
As far as o/c agp, 100mhz will work (2/3 150FSB) just fine.
