GeForce 6200 TurboForce Problem

Hello!

I have a problem. When I tried to change my GPU form GeForce 4 MX 440 to GeForce 6200 TurboForce. When I changed them, the start-up screen goes black, although the computer goes through normal start-up process (no BIOS sound or anything). When I revert to GeForce 4 it works fine.

My motherboard is ASUS A7N8X 2.0, with 512MB RAM and ASUS CPU 2500+.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

You have to install drivers for the 6200. Start your PC then press F1 f2 or whatever to get into setup and change Display to Onboard instead of PCI then start windows and install the drivers.

Sorry, it seems I didn't express myself clearly.

The screen is black since the computer is turned on, there is no POST screen, there isn't anything on screen. When I said that the computer goes through normal start-up, I meant that I can hear the hard disk working but there is no screen image whatsoever. It's simply completely black since I turn it on.

I have no idea what to do. Compatibility shouldn't be a problem, if I'm not mistaken my motherboard should be able to work with up to and including GeForce 7 generation video cards.
The only thing I forgot to mention is that both cards (GeForce 4 MX 440 and GeForce 6200) are AGP 8x.

I hate that card, its ok for like a pentium 1 or 2 era just for light stuff. I suggest that you try to hunt around for a cheap $20-40 6800gt/ultra agp or a 7800gs if you can find one. Beyond that you will be looking at Radeon 2k series on up for agp.

I've had the same problem when going from a geforce 5200 to 6200.

The thing is it booted up fine the first time i installed then stopped working.
I have a tv connected to the dvi and bios etc loads on that screen, just not on my monitor via vga.

Did you get any further with resolving the problem?

Well, as it turned out my card was dead but since the warranty was still valid I returned it and got another one (ASUS Radeon X1650Pro).
I advise you to try that card in some other PC before getting a new one. If it doesn't work there than it is probably dead. Other than that, I don't have any other advice. Sorry!
