Hi all

I was thinking of buying a new graphic card , and i have been looking around on the net and i found the Asus V9999GE/TD/256M GeForce FX™ 6800 to be kind of "cheap". I wonder, does any1 know if this card is good compaired to other 6800 and x800 cards. It costs about 400 euros

If any1 know any other good cards that they can recommend please do so, it will be much appriciated

Thx guys!

My cards good stock, but it dosnt seem to have adequate cooling for moderate overclocking (eVGA).

heya Wrathfox;

For one thing all the Asus 6800 Models except the ultra only have 128MB of video memory, which is disapointing.
You can do better with another brand, BFG is who i recommend.

Well correction, farcry has me spooked that I cant, but it might not be the overclock making it crash.... lol, that sounds shady either way.

it´s a fine choice if you can´t afford the GT or x800pro

Abit IS7 - P4E3.0@3.45- i865PE - 1024mb dual ddr400 - Leadtek 6800 128mb@380/850 - 600W dualfan(front/rear) PowerTek Psu - maxtor 4K080H4 & 6Y120P0 - samsung sm-352b

400 Euros!

That's almost $500US !

No that's not a good deal. Try to find a GF6800GT for that price.

There are alot of GTs in the UK for around £270 which is under 400Euro. So it comes down to what you have access to. However for the most part the GF6800vanilla isn't worth that kind of money.

BTW, don't mind Xeen, seems he needs to do alot more research.

Here's a list of nVGF6800 Cards (diff models) from the UK with before/after VAT prices, and clearly the ASUS you are talking about is listed with 256mb of memory.

<A HREF="http://www.gladiatorcomputers.com/acatalog/NVidia_Graphics_Cards.html#AGRAGAL6800GT" target="_new">http://www.gladiatorcomputers.com/acatalog/NVidia_Graphics_Cards.html#AGRAGAL6800GT</A>

I'd still say GT because anything less isn't worth that kind of money. <i>MAYBE</i> 300 Euros, but not 400.

If you want an idea of where the ASUS falls performance wise <A HREF="http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/gffx/nv40-7.html" target="_new">Digit-Life recently translated their review of the V9999 GamerEdition</A> as you see in that list.

It would be sweet, for all of us ;) I thought of it back when i was to buy my 6800, but the problem is: As soon as the card crosses the border of EU it takes a massive toll hit, and the price would become higher than the noise of my p4E cooler ;)

Otherwise I could have gotten an 6800U or x800xt or even UE/XTPE for the same price :p

One might raise his/her chances a few % by proper "giftwrapping", the laws differ when concerning presents, but I think there is a max-limit as of value in dest. country, but I can´t remember.

not to be rude or anything, but the link displays the price in £ and not €. 100£=145€

Yes, it does use pounds, quite appropriate for the UK, and as I said about 270pounds = less than 400 Euros (about 391 actually).

Seriously I leave it up to the consumer to convert prices, that should be fairly easy, and anyone who has problems go to xe.com and they can do it for you.

400 Euros for a GF6800, TOO MUCH, 400 EUROS for a GT, seems like a good price, and far close to US prices, although still much higher than the US or Canada.

LOL!

Look at my second post, I mentioned it too.

I know about the EU and your insufferable price issues, I have a cousin who lives in Dundee Scotland, poor Sod! :evil: And I take trips quite often (well, for a N.American), not like the Euro crossing borders every other weekend.

However, I do like getting the money back at the end of my trips, it's like winning a lottery. :cool:

Hey remeber I posted some images from a magazine abt the Asus V9999 card. And that was the top notch there but you wondered why, bcos it wasnt the fastest in any of the tests, maybe [H] gives the answer. See the other thread.

:tongue: <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/priyajeet/Fing.jpg" target="_new"><i><font color=red>Very funny, Scotty.</font color=red><font color=blue> Now beam down my clothes.</font color=blue></i></A> :tongue:

He's already talking about the Gamer Edition, and really as Digit-Life showed in the link above, it's strengths are at low res and low-demands. The GT is a far better card than any 'tricked-out' GF6800 as [H] calls it.

Either find a cheaper GF6800 or the GF6800GTs that are going for around 400 Euros, and other plain GF6800 going for around 100 Euros. Here's another link with the ASUS GF6800GT selling for less than the GF6800GE on this French site;
<A HREF="http://www.ldlc.fr/fiche/PB00019865.html" target="_new">http://www.ldlc.fr/fiche/PB00019865.html</A>

The GF6800GE is priceed in the same way that a 256mb FX5600 was sometimes priced higher than an FX5600U 128mb simply because people bought into the big numbers. Pay less, get a GT, sounds like a much better idea.
