I am running an AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core 3800+ (XP) with a GeForce 7600 GT.. I bought that card when I first got this computer.. Do you all think I will see a big jump in performance by going from that card to a 250 GTS? I am on the fence at this point, but I think I would be all for it if it would show a solid increase in performance.. Thanks for any input!

Generally speaking the GTS 250 will DESTROY the 7600GT. However, in your case, the 3800+ is probably going to hold you back a bit. I'm not so sure you'd be able to get 100% performance out of the GTS 250 anyhow.

If you have an AM2 motherboard, I'd suggest upgrading to a newer AMD CPU. If you've got the older AMD socket 939 motherboard type, I'd say you're due for an entire upgrade before you'll see any worthwhile gains.

For the $100 bucks do you think it would keep this computer running for a little while longer before doing a complete upgrade or do you think it just is worth scrapping the whole thing and starting over?

Not to get way off topic on a vid card thread but would upgrading to

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Brisbane 3.1GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 89W Dual-Core Processor - OEM

be a big jump? And if so do I just snap it in?

What socket are you using? I thought the AM2 didn't kick off till post 4xxx athlon 2's. Careful you don't have a 939.

Also, it might be time to save some cash and get a new rig OP. I wouldn't put any money into that rig as it is. Go to s swap shop and maybe get something cheep and used. but certainly dont pay the inflated prices for such old tech.
