GeForce 8400 GS Installed but No Display

I installed a PNY Verto GeForce 8400 GS 512MB via PCI into my computer. Everything works on the computer but when I connect my VGA cable to my graphics card a get a short signal (black screen though) and then my monitor enters power save mode. My monitor only supports resolution of 1280x1024, so I think this is the problem. Any advice?

Make sure your BIOS are configured to prioritize PCI-e > Onboard graphics
