GeForce 920m, i7-5500U VS. GeForce 940m, i5 5200U

Hello everybody.

Which laptop should I buy for Black Friday? I want to play games like diablo 3, maybe dota 2 at some point. Its important for me to be using Skype when gaming, so thats where the better CPU might matter.

GeForce 920m, i7-5500U

vs

GeForce 940m, i5 5200U

- the price is the same.

For games, you really want the more powerful GPU. The 940m is significantly better than the 920m. The difference between the two CPUs, on the other hand, is relatively small.

So I will be able to game while using Skype and internet browsers with the i5 5200U?

I also watch a decent number on streams on twitch in the background of my games - will that also be possible?

Take the one with 940m. I would also recommend upgrading to an SSD in the future, as the HDD is a real snail in any computer. 8Gb ram is also good to have if you want to have many programs running simultaneously.

Thanks alot for the answer - I ended up going for an even cheaper Lenovo option with SSD:

GeForce 840M,Core i5-4210U,8GB RAM,256GB SSD, 15.6 (Full HD)

I felt like the price was really good: 637 $ or 423 £

Am I right to assumes that the 840m and 940 are pretty similar? the same with i5-4210U and i5-5200 - they both clock out at 2.7

Yeah, you got an awesome deal there. The difference between the 840m and 940m is 1%. the 940m has few extra Mhz added to the GPU clock speed which translates in a superficial difference of max 5 FPS in games. That SSD is gonna be a big difference though!
