GeForce 9800 GT Upgrade

I have a Dell 530s desktop and want to upgrade the graphics to the GeForce 9800 GT card. My problem is the power connector - I do not have an additional 6 prong power cord. I have been told that I need to upgrade my power supply .. any suggestions?

Yeah, use a 6-pin to molex adapter. Basically it will take up two of your 4-pin molex plugs. Just make sure your PSU can handle it or you could end up with one friend system.

When you say to make sure my PSU can handle it - do you mean the power supply?

but will it fit? The 530s is a slim line PC, is the card a low profile card? Plus you would need a new PSU if its a slim line PC.

Or one of those supplementary PSU's that go in a 5.5in drive bay.

it is a low profile card and fits fine in my slim line PSU - I just don't have the ability to connect the power and my other concern was the amount of power. If I use a splitter to connect - will this fry my system?

I read the thread and still have the same questions. The CPU and card are different in this thread - maybe I'm too anal about it but wanted to know anyone's experience with using a splitter on a Dell 530s to power a 9800 GT graphics card

or do you suggest simply purchasing an upgraded CPU? Any suggestions for a cheap one that would be powerful enough for these graphics?
