I have a GTX 1060 6 GB, 2x4GB DDR4 ram and i5 7600K. These parts should provide an overall good gaming experience but sadly every "new game" runs steady 60-80fps and 100% GPU usage (It doesnt really matter what if I am running a game with Ultra or low graphics). With a 144hz monitor its not really enjoyable to play without 144fps.

Where should I start looking for a problem?

You can't really expect 144fps from a GTX 1060 in modern games. However, I would start by monitoring RAM usage, 8GB is cutting it close in most modern AAA games and this might explain the reason you're not seeing much frame rate difference between Ultra or low....the whole system will slow down if it doesn't have enough memory.

Firstly- 100% GPU Usage. This means that your graphics card is being fully utilised for the game. Every resource that the GPU has is being used towards the game. It's nothing to worry about, rather something to be happy about.

If your only getting 60-80fps in games, there may be something throttling you.
What games are you playing? Framerates vary between games. For example, I get 120+ fps in R6S with my GTX 1060, but only 70-80fps in Far Cry 5 (both running at 1920x1080 on Ultra).
What resolution are you playing at? GTX 1060s perform best in games at 1920x1080.
Can you confirm there are no hardware or software that may be throttling your graphics card?
Are you sure you have tried changing graphical settings within games, then restarting the game to see if changes work?

If you have any more questions or concerns, leave a comment.

Hope this helped!

EDIT: I agree with @pete_101, 8GB of RAM is quite low for today's standards and may be something that is throttling you.

That's true. I will buy another 8GB soon.

So I am playing FarCry 5, AC origins, AC Syndicate etc. and I have to play with low or medium graphics to avoid any fps drops. Yea I am running 1920x1080. I can't confirm that I dont have any softwares which could throttle my gpu or I just cant see them on a task manager.

Thanks for a comprehensive reply.
