Hello. My sister bought a GeForce GTX 1660 Black for her computer. She installed it, and initially it worked fine with the screen using a low resolution. She then went to install new drivers. During the installation process, the screen went black and never came back up, giving a "no signal" message. She restarted the computer to find Windows begins to load, but then the screen cuts off and gives a "no signal" message. She reinstalled her old graphics card, a 750 Ti, and it works no problem. I had her uninstall the drivers for that card, shut down the computer, and then reinstall the new graphics card. Windows loaded up fully this time, using a low resolution. She went to check the display adapter drivers, when suddenly the screen went black with a "no signal" message again. Restarting the machine results the same as before, Windows not able to get past initial loading. She is able to get into BIOS with the new card installed. Her motherboard is an ASRock N68-GS4 FX. She has 8GBs of RAM.

Which power supply (brand and model) and CPU are you using?

Which monitor are you using?
How did you connect the 1660 to the monitor?

Is the one 8Pin PCIe power connector plugged into the GTX1660? Or is it only connected by a 6pin connector?

Update the BIOS of the motherboard if it´s not version 1.30 already, by instant flash within the BIOS:
https://www.asrock.com/support/BIOSIG.asp?cat=BIOS
https://www.asrock.com/mb/NVIDIA/N68-GS4 FX/#BIOS

Could be an incompatibility issue because of the old motherboard or a power or a monitor cable problem. The 1660 could be faulty as well.

Check the card in a different system

Yeah, that's the problem with hardware issues: could be any number of things and you have to jump through hoops to check everything. My sister has decided to take advantage of Black Friday and bought parts for a new machine. If the graphics card is indeed faulty, we'll know for sure then.

Yes, the card is connected using an 8-pin connector. Uhh, the CPU is an AMD AM3+, I think it's an FX. 5400 or 5600. Something like that. 6-core. She's in Virginia and I'm in California, so I unfortunately can't look myself.

I did think about the possibility that the board is too old for the card.

But, yeah, maybe we'll try updating the BIOS as a temp solution. Thanks, helpster.
