Hello,

I wonder if someone could help me.

Both of these cards cost the same £399.99, however the Palit has 3GB and the Asus has 1.5GB. So I would think that would mean that Palit was better, however if we go to http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-260-AS the Asus apparently it offers many advantanges over the Palit.

I am new to all this, but from what I understand a reference GTX 580 is a kind of standard template from which all other brands base their cards from. In comparison to the reference card, Asus assert they offer superior cooling (20% more) hence reducing overall temperature, longer life (2.5 times more), a higher clock (816mhz vs reference 772mhz) and it comes with special Safe Mode software and Overclocking software which can increase the clock speed up to 950mhz! Will the higher clock alone off 44mhz alone account to much?

On the other hand Palit doesn't have these features but has 3GB vram. Guru3d state this is overkill (http://www.guru3d.com/news/palit-releases-geforce-gtx-580-with-3gb/) on an already amazing card, but said it will improve performance.

Here are my potential new build specs;

Intel Sandybridge i5-2500K Unlocked Core i5 Quad-Core Processor (3.30GHz, 6MB Cache, Socket 1155)
Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance Memory Two Module Kit
Geforce GTX 580
60Gb OCZ Agility 3 SSD Read 525MB s Write 475MB s
Samsung F3 HD103SJ 1TB internal Hard Drive SATAII 32MB Cache 7200RPM – OEM
Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P Z68 Motherboard
Coolermaster HAF 922 Mid Tower Chassis
Corsair TX Series, 650 Watt, ATX, PS/2, Power Supply, UK Version
Samsung Blu-ray Combo Drive
Genuine Windows 7 Home Edition x64

Could someone please advise which card is better and why? Is the double memory in the Palit going to provide better graphics and fps compared to the Asus?

Thanks in Advance!
