Geforce Gtx 600 series drivers compatibility

Hey guys and gals, I am confused on something. Can someone please give a me a bit of clarification on whether I can use other nvidia 600 series drivers with my gtx 680 because I heard of someone doing that? Supposedly they used gtx 660 ti drivers with their gtx 680 and got increased performance in certain games. So I was wondering if it was a normal thing to do. Thanks guys

Nvidia uses a single unified driver that supports all modern graphics cards.
Just download the latest from Nvidia and you should be good.

So even if your specific card isn't listed with performance increases in certain games under the release notes can you receive those performance increases just as the card/s that are listed do receive? Thanks a lot
