Greetings guys.

I've been trying to solve this issue but to no avail. And makes worse that I'm no expert and have no idea what I'm doing.

To the problem at hand: I have a geforce gtx 660 card and I wanted to use a 2nd monitor. So I bought a http://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-22M38A . The one I was using before was a http://www.lg.com/ca_en/monitors/lg-L192WS-lcd-monitor.

Now this is the back of my graphic card: http://www.extremetech.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/geforce-gtx-660-bracket_gallery_preview.png

The old monitor came with a dvi-i adapter (24+5 pins) which I'm using for the bottom entry of the card. To connect the second monitor I had to get a simple dvi-d adapter with 24+1 pins (http://s474818768.onlinehome.us/list/dvivga/011.jpg). However this does not work. My 2nd monitor is simply not detected (nothing shows on windows/NVIDIA panel, the monitor keeps giving me the "check signal cable" message).

What is the issue? Am I doing the connections wrong, are the monitors incompatible, is it the wrong adapter?

Any help would be appreciated.

PS: I suppose I cannot connect both monitors on the bottom row of plugs (using a dvi-to-vga for one and hdmi-to-vga for the other, for example)?

Solution
Dvi-d is digital signals only.
Vga is anaolg only.

That adapter couldn't possibly work. You need to take the monitor back and get one with a dvi-i (or dvi-d) or hdmi input(s) or get an active dvi to vga adapter, something like This one (see why I suggest taking back the new monitor)
Cheers

Solution
Thanks, Popatim. I have seen similar cases that made me wonder if that was the issue indeed, but they were related to other video cards, best to have confirmation from an expert!

Would you say something like this would work? http://www.amazon.com/Generic-Adapter-Converter-Laptop-NoteBook/dp/B007PLL4CK/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1460545114&sr=1-4&keywords=hdmi+to+vga+converter

As in, using HMDI instead of DVI-D. Or with my graphic card I have no choice but to go to a DVI-D to VGA converter, if I want to plug a second monitor?

Many thanks for your help.
