GeForce GTX 960

Solution

The FX 4300 is nowhere close to an i5, even overclocked.

That depends on what you are doing, single core performance is pretty bad on the fx 4300.If you are playing arma.Have fun because most of the load is on the cpu.But for general games it is still a quad core cpu that shouldnt bottleneck the 960.

Also a suggestion, amd is rumoured to drop prices on the remaining processors to make way for bristol ridge and zeb.So grab a fx6300 or 8350 for a cheap upgrade when it happens.

No you probably won't bottleneck that gpu, it's a native quad core with about average performance comparable with a 2 year old i5, you could probably go with anything up to a 1070 and not notice a bottleneck at all. What will bottleneck your system is games that require more cpu power and there aren't a whole lot that do. More gpu power (read newer generation gpus) is always a good thing if your system can handle it.

I would consider an 8 core cpu as a future upgrade as I think it's the same socket, the 8310 is a 95 watt cpu and a great upgrade from the fx 4 core.

The only thing I would mention that no one else has is that unless you're getting a really good price on the 960 then I wouldn't recommend it. The problem is that in less demanding games the 950 will do the job at a lower cost. If you need more videocard power than a 950 then something on the 970/1060 level is where you should look.

I think this is a very good point, there are much better options than the 960 coming through. The 1050 is nearly ready for release and the RX470 or 1060 3GB would also make for a good choice. The low end last gen cards don't even beat the RX 460 in a number of games.
