Geforce GTX 970 vs Radeon R9 280, 280x, 290, 290x

I am working on putting together a list of parts for my first gaming PC, I am stuck on choosing which GPU to choose, either the GTX 970, 980 or the R9 280, 280x, 290, or 290x ( or if there are any other cards that are around the same price as all of these that I missed ). If someone can tell me which one is better for gaming and better over all, it would help me out a lot, I plan on playing games like Skyrim, Dying Light, The Evil Within, CS:GO, and a few other games. Whichever one will get me the most FPS and the highest settings in games is the one I am looking for, thanks for the help!

As of right now a 980 will beat out all of the other cards. Also a 970 can beat out a 290x in SOME games. If you want something solid get a 980, if budget is an Issue get a 970 and if budgets REALLY an issue get a 290x
