[SOLVED] GeForce RTX™ 2070 GamingPro Low FPS

Here is my spec :
Display : 2560 x 1440 - 32 Bit colors,144 Hz
OS: Windows 7
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790
GPU: Nvidia RTX 2070
SSD: Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB
HDD: Toshiba DT01ACA200 2TB
RAM: Unknown Team-Elite-1600 Kingston 99P5471-016.A00LF 16GB
MBD: MSI H81M-P33 (MS-7817)


Like I play GTA5 with the suggested setting, I only got about 35-57 FPS while driving and ~60 walking.
About Rainbow 6 Siege with recommended setting and 1440 p, it has only about 67-75 fps , not even 144 fps ...
The FPS drops frequently. What's the problem?
I couldn't check the PSU model right now but it's 550W.
GPU temp is about 159°C
CPU temp is about 100°C and usage ~70%
The frame rate is stable that average FPS is about 47 which is already kinda low
And it drops to ~38 sometimes while the gaming condition is the same.
I have already set "prefer Maximum performance".
Please help.

The temperatures are Fahrenheit or Celsius? If it's Celsius that must be the actual issue. Those are insane numbers.

Sorry . The correction : GPU temp is about 159°F
However CPU temperature is about 100 Celsius.
Is 550W good with RTX 2070 ?

100C for your CPU is considered VERY high. You need to replace your thermal paste for sure and maybe even your CPU cooler.
We need the make and model of your PSU.

Yes , I am using the stock cooler . I have replaced the thermal paste and the condition is still the same.

Your stock CPU cooler AND your PSU need to be replaced.
The cooler to achieve better temps which won't thermal throttle your CPU and because you may have already damaged the silicon, to stop doing so.
The PSU needs to be replaced because it's a very bad one and should not be used with a gaming rig, especially with a 2070.

I have replaced the CPU cooler and the condition has been improved. Thank you.
But the fps is still kinda low compare to the performance of the RTX2070 . Like playing rainbow six siege , the fps is only ~80 to 90 , couldn’t reach 144.
What PSU should I buy ? Can I have some recommendations? Thank you so much

You have a bit of unrealistic expectations.

Your CPU and GPU can not handle 144 fps in 2k resolution. Watch this:

His CPU is close to yours and he has DDR4 faster RAM than your DDR3. He gets average 104 fps and he dips as low as 60.
