It wouldn't surprise me if certain AMD fanboys (who otherwise only game at 1080p) used this as an argument to suggest buying an RX 7000 over an RTX 40 series GPU.

Can the AMD 7000 cards game at that resolution? They may be able to display that resolution and refresh rate, but I doubt they can product that resolution and frame rate in any games. CS-GO maybe?

As for why NVidia can't. They cheap out on certain technology. While they may be the fastest ones around, they are generally slower on the mainstream tech, such as Display Port, HDMI, PCIe, etc.

While the AMD can output enough pixels to keep the monitor busy in a web browser or maybe watching a movie, the real question is whether the AMD can run Triple A game titles at 2x 4K at 240 FPS. But, hey, at least it can keep the monitor busy refreshing those pixels to the same setting repeatedly!
Not even the RTX 4090 can run that, even if there wasn't the problem described.

nvidia update program... you can have display port 2.0 on New 5090.

1 - Up to 4K 12-bit HDR at 240Hz with DP 1.4a + DSC or HDMI 2.1a + DSC. Up to 8K 12-bit HDR at 60Hz with DP 1.4a + DSC or HDMI 2.1a + DSC.

LOL!

Salty 4090 owner spotted.
Yup first person bringing up the Fan boy argument usually is a fan boy.

They can't stick to the topic and stay out of their feelings.

While this is a valid issue I don't think it will affect most since neither of these cards 7900XTX or 4090 have enough power to game at that res outside of older esports titles.

lets stay on topic.

Would it be possible for Intel on NV to address this via driver/firmare update or does it seem to be a physical limitation based on the information that is available.

Apparently not many people read the article : HDMI 2.1 has enough bandwidth with DSC to drive it to it but the G9 only restricts HDMI 2.1 on Nvidia and Intel cards only despite having the bandwidth for it so something is amiss(which is to be expected from Samsung, their QC is what it is and I've had 2 neo G8s die on me. Still good image and solid performance when they work).

If you want to watch an AMD 7000 series melt 2 minutes after you plugged it into this monitor, connect up and watch the show.
Important to note that the high idle consumption while connecting monitors was resolved months ago, and for your information, that won't happen. Now this might be a joke, but still fanboyism is not a good look.

And yet, your card really sucked and couldn't handle one of the best monitors!!

Yep! You can't even begin to imagine the unbearable pain that causes me! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

First thing next week, i'll be looking to sell my 4090, just so i can buy a 7900XTX, and then raise some more cash for the Samsung monitor.

So much fan boy crap. I have a 1080ti and I have a 6950xt and I've had more Nvidia cards than amd. after all Nvidia has been making video cards since before amd bought ATI.
Characterizing all amd card owners as 1080p only gamers is simply unfair. Let people buy whatever makes sense for them..
I cannot afford a 4090 my kids need to eat and have clothes on their backs. You can? Great happy for you 😊
Their just companies why this rabid behavior? Trust me they only want your money they don't care about this 😅

I would like one of these wide monitors for dev work. Crisp text, more code visible at a time, and no seams between displays. I’m probably typing fast enough only to hit a 15 Hz refresh rate.

Hmm… do I get a graphics card that does not work or one that does?

I own a RTX 6000 ADA, and you bet I’m going to get a RX 7000 card if that’s what’ll work.

I wouldn't really find this a big deal anyway because if it's like the Odyssey G7 Neo I'm using now, the monitor has an issue with scanlines at 240Hz. Dropping it down to 120 Hz makes that go away.

And it's not like I really need the 240Hz anyway.

That's the smartest thing that you have said all day. Spending that extra $600 won't make your stick any longer. Sorry, you are stuck with that. Lol. Jensen has the same problem!
