News GeForce RTX 4090 Has a Spirit Level To Prevent GPU Sagging

I have never heard anyone refer to a "Level" as a "Spirit Level" in real life. I think I have heard that term in British shows. Is "Spirit Level" a British thing? It does look kinda fun.

I 'm going to assume that $2,800 price tag is a scalper/reseller price and not the intended msrp, because adding a gimmicky little level on a card has to be one of the more asinine design choices I have ever seen on a GPU and is certainly not worth a $1,200 price increase.

Also why is there a battery symbol next to it??

Level bubbles OMG

Add gravity sensors and levels sensors the electronic way, create an app for this ... or maybe add some electric actuators to auto level it LMFAO

What's so funny about this is that the normal use case for having 2 of them is to ensure it's on a level plane. However, that would require them being perpendicular to each other, or at least not on the same axis.

I wonder if the original intention was to put them on different edges of the card, but then they bailed on that plan while still inexplicably keeping 2 of them.

I've always called it a "Bubble Level". This is the first time I've heard it being called a "Spirit Level".
Even though I'd heard the term, when I saw the headline I thought it was some kind of GPU health monitor, to show how much "spirit" the GPU had left... or something weird like that. I remember reading about "ASIC scores" being used to bin Nvidia GPUs and predict how well they'd overclock, so I thought maybe it was something similar.

However, when my brain registered what was in the photo, I quickly remembered that definition of the term.

I know the (double, parallel) level thing really shines here, but no one finds it interesting that it has a battery drawn next to it? Like... A battery icon from some electronic device, as if that 4090 is running on batteries (at least it's full ...or not, I don't know).
These unknows chinese brands undoubtedly have good esthetic taste.

Great way to UP the price of the dang thing, as if it wasn't expensive enough. if you want to know the level of the dang thing just go to Harbor Freight and buy a cheap mini Level, or just use your EYES.

I was taught that is what it is called 😀

99% of the time I've always just heard it called a "level" and the 1% of the other times was a "bubble level" ... 0% have I ever heard it called "spirit level" and I worked in construction for 4 years lol

Well, I've never worked construction, and I've heard it called a spirit level.

So....

Whats in a name...
