I have the zotac 250gts at 512 mb 256 bit ddr3 and would like to know the cards on tiger direct, they are the 610 and 620 with 2 gigs of memory, ddr3 direct11 are they any good or better than what I have. heres one (Galaxy 61TGS4HX2LTX GeForce GT 610 GC Video Card - 1GB, DDR3, PCI-Express 2.0 (x16), 1x DVI, 1x HDMI, 1x VGA, DirectX 11, NVIDIA PhsyX, NVIDIA CUDA, Overclocked) and the other Zotac GeForce GT 620 Synergy Edition ZT-60501-10L Video Card - 2GB, GDDR3, PCI-Express 2.0(x16), 2x Dual-link DVI-I, 1x mini-HDMI, DirectX 11, Single-Slot.

GTX 650 Ti generally kicks the crap out of a GTS 250. Still, I dislike the GTX 650 Ti (way too huge of a memory bottle-neck on that card over-inflates how good it really is) and would recommend jumping up to the GTX 660 over it, if possible. Regardless, the GTX 650 and GT 640 GDDR5 have a good improvement over the GTS 250.

I'm pretty sure that the GT 610 and GT 620 are beaten by the GTS 250 in performance despite not in feature sets.

That's probably right. Anyway, it doesn't seem like OP has quite a lot of budge for a video card. I know you don't like it and even I don't like it very much but the GTX650ti is the best choice at $150 (if his budget is somewhere around here).

th kn, its just I was told direc x 11 is better graphics and the up dated shaders etc, also for future games to buy needs 1 gig of video memory, and they use less energy, this one I have is a monster
but I love it

Sure, newer cards are much more energy efficient, and correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the GTX 285 usually have 1GB of memory? It's not fast enough for more than 1GB to matter AFAIK.

Most of the advantages of DX11 over DX10/10.1 are some performance advantages, integrating a lot of quality features that were previously optional and separate from the DirectX API, and improving the code of the API (for example, DX11 games are generally more well-threaded on the CPU than DX-10/10.1 games) AFAIK. IT's not so much a graphics quality advantage as it is a modernization and integration of graphics features that were available in some older games, but not part of DirectX. Integrating them should make them more easily accessible and usable in games IIRC.

hey dont get me wrong I used to have the 9800 gt and it burned out and zotac honored the lifetime warranty and gave me the 250 gts and I love it and has been running strong since 2009 but now my rig is getting old and I want to up grade to a I5 core or the Amd 6 core system with ddr3 and usb 3.0. with liquid cooled system. or copper tubing fan system
