I just purchased this card, and it does not fit into my box, One of the sides is slightly too long. Should I exchange it for another, paying shipping, or is this a common product?

What do you mean, one of the sides is slightly too long? Are you putting it in an AGP slot? If it's an AGP Pro slot, is the card lined up with the center part of the slot?

Prepare for crappy ASCII diagram.

\ ||||||| |||| - AGP slot on the motherbord, the pins line up (if it would have fit in the slot)
\-======= ==== - AGP card's pins

the upper-left corner won't fit in the box because its too long by a fraction of an inch.

Is this a defective card, or is there something wrong with my box/motherboard? I compared it with my old AGP card, and this one IS a tiny bit longer in that one dimension that counts

The pins line up, but the card won't fit snugly, its loose on one end because the corner wont go in.

Uploaded that. the upper left circled corner is the part that is too long by a TINY amount

What I want to know is this: Should I exchange it for another, or will that one likely have the same problem?
Edited by Trauts on 02/19/04 09:07 AM.

I had that with one refurbished card in a particular case. It was a tad bit longer than most, but seemed to be just in that one case. But I tested the card in another system so I new it worked, then I took a dremel and just filed that down a bit so it would work in the other case.

Can't directly answer your question, but if you can test the card and know it works, and you want to keep it, then just file down that slot metal on the end. if you did a nice job of it, I can't imagine that would hurt your warranty either.
