Okay so i am making a super budget pc out of left over parts, one of which is a 600w psu, however the motherboard has an 8pin connecter and the psu only has a single 4 pin as it is relatiy old. Will it damage any component if i were to snip off a 4 pin and wire it up correctly to the 12v out, making sure the yellow wire goes into the yellow wire and vice versa, i am presuming that this will work as the psu is a high power psu for only having a 4pin and always when i take dead psus apart the 8pins just go straight into the same as the other yellow wires and because the wattage of the 12v by itself is higher than other psus with 8 pins then i think it will work
Will someone please say that this has worked for them or give me assurance. I will still do this im just wondering how close i will need a fire extingusiher to it
