Would this memory work for overclocking a 2.8c in a Gigabyte GA-8IK1100 board. Here are the memory specs from newegg. GEIL Dual Channel Ultra Platinum Series 512MB(2x256MB) PC-4200 (533MHz) DDR RAM MODEL# GL5124200DC - RETAIL Thanks!

it should...normally geil ram does not overclock any further than the rams specified speed, so dont expect to get more than 533mhz out of it

If it isn't a P6 then it isn't a procesor

Geil's ddr533 could do 540, but that's it, if you get OCZ PC4000 copper series they could do 550 at lower cost and lower voltage.

Newegg had a pair of refurbished 256mb for $120 and free shipping but I missed them. I wasn't sure if they were worth it. I wish I would have jumped on it now. Thanks for the advise.

You can go to school your whole life and still be an idiot.

Geil is great overclocking ram, just needs more volts.

best timing ram for pc4200 available w/ CL2.5

What does more voltage mean? Geil's warrenty only covers up to 2.95 so even if you own an Epox mobo or Abit IC7 Max3 you can't pump it up to 3.3 their PC4000 can hit 540 while their PC4200 hit 540 as well, even on Geil's website said they're the samething just overclocked.

-Intel PIV 2.6C @ 3.575G -Asus P4P800 -OCZ Copper 2x256 4000EL memory @ 275mhz 3-4-4-8 -Sapphire 9800np @ 432/780 -SB audigy -120G Maxtor Diamond Plus9 S-ATA150 hdd -450 Enermax PSU

Geil has always had better timing for the rated speed. The geil will take all the volts your mobo will give it without any fear of hurting the ram. I would suggest a fan on the ram but it should still operate fine with that voltage. Ive dont it for many many hours of non-stop gaming.

You should be able to pull cas 2.5 @ 275FSB @ ~ 3.1v

Watch your sandra score jump by a few hundred points with the cl change.

I don't understand though from all the reviews i've read even though OCZ and Corsair doesn't have the tightest timings, but they always have the highest bandwidth.
